Hello,
When I start new backtest - sometimes I first select a date, then I select symbol.
Selecting symbol resets the date, so I have to select it again.
It means it's pointless to show "Starting date" field until any of the symbols is selected.
I'd suggest hiding it and showing only once a symbol is selected.
Video attached (in a .rar as .mp4 formats aren't accepted).

Re: Hide "Starting date" field until symbol is selected
I have something tangentially related to this request.
I'd like to be able to type into the "starting date" field to enter the date directly. Currently we have to click on the calendar and select year, month and date each time and that is too slow.
Thanks.

Re: Hide "Starting date" field until symbol is selected
Hello,
In fact, this is intended to change the data when symbols are selected.
The date is not reset but it is changed to fit the ranges of the selected symbols. This was a choice to select the date for the users, implying he wants by default select all possible data.
Having said that, we could disable the data selection item, until symbols are selected indeed.
We will see what is the best option for every users.
@Khan : you can type the date in the selection date control if you want to save time

I can, but as soon as I tab out from the date selection control, it resets back to the first available day. Pressing enter also doesn't help.
Re: Hide "Starting date" field until symbol is selected
This feature has been added in the last update.
Now the user can choose if he wants to select the first date in the data range. By default, the checkbox is not checked.
